Answers
Answer:
Answer
Some liquid medicines are kept in dark coloured bottles this is because some liquid medicines can react to the light but when they are kept in coloured bottles these help to prevent the medicines to come in contact with the light.
Example: Chloroform when comes in contact with light, it forms phosgene which is poisonous gas. Thus it is stored in an amber colour bottle.
Answer:
Dark-coloured bottles interrupt the path of light such that light cannot reach silver chloride in the bottles and its decomposition is prevented. It is known that silver chloride decomposes to silver and chlorine in the presence of light. They act as a filter and this prevent the reactions with can take place between the medicines when they are exposed to light. For example: Chloroform when comes in contact with light, it forms phosgene which is poisonous gas.
