i) What is life like ?  

• According to the poet, life is like a race which is full of ups and downs. As in a race one needs to get up every time he/she fails, similarly life brings us to success but only when we know how to conquer our failure.

• In the third line, the poet talks about the situation when he is sad and depressed in his life. He goes on to explain how the memories of the race help him to deal with such difficult times of his life.
