Summary? Are you a child? An adult? Poets often write figuratively and metahorically with an effort to appeal to commonalities of thought and feeling that people have - shared human experience. When we read poetry or literature we become part of something bigger than ourselves, and we find out that we are not alone, not separate from other people. As you read “Rain” you could be the child who gets wrapped up in the rhythms of the rain drops, perhaps even enough for it to alter our perceptions of our motions throughout any given day. Rain might soothe and cloud usual anxieties or sounds of rain might stick into consciousness. It could be the same for an adult, too, but the sounds and sight and feeling of rain could also be a metaphore for anything that fills our thoughts to distraction.
