because he was a humble and good man. actually he spoke low when he got the answer that his name was not in the list of people who love god

Abou Ben Adhem was born with a deep dream of peace. He walked slowly and talked slowly.
He believed that his room was effected by the angel which gliding it and making it look like a 'lily in bloom' which is pure and noble.
Blooming lily brightened his room.
So he believes that The God is always with him at the rest of his entire life and its God's blessings.
