poem on nature for poem recitation competition
Answers
The Hill—the Afternoon—
Squirrel—Eclipse— the Bumble bee—
Nay—Nature is Heaven—
Nature is what we hear—
The Bobolink—the Sea—
Thunder—the Cricket—
Nay—Nature is Harmony—
Nature is what we know—
Yet have no art to say—
So impotent Our Wisdom is
To her Simplicity.
Emily Dikinson
I am not much of an outside person
I’d rather read a book on the sofa
than ride a bike
but I do love the water
and I would rather take an ocean swim
than a mountain hike
seeing me hidden in my comfort zone
Mother Nature still knows my heart
she holds me and tells me
that even in this big wide world
I have a part
she tells me I am a tsunami
a force no man can stop
she tells me I am a thunderstorm
powerful, even in a single raindrop
she tells me I am a sea
too vast to completely explore
she tells me I am a volcano
too hot to touch,
passion exploding from the surface
coming from my very core
I feel the wind on my skin
and I know she is touching me gently and whispering,
“you are a force of nature, no heartbreaking boy can control,
because I’ve put the sun,
skies,
oceans,
forests,
and earth
in your very soul.”
