Earth is called a green planet due to the presence of plants on it. Plants are considered to be the first living organisms born on the earth. Without plants, the environment and human life on this earth cannot exist. Utility refers to the state of an object being useful. Therefore what is the usefulness of plants are:
1) Plants are the main source of food in the world.
2) Plants are the main source of timber used in a wide variety of commodities such as furniture.
3) Plants are the largest source of medicine and have been in use for ages and are still used in the manufacture of present medications.
4) Plants provide an aesthetic environment and there parts like flowers are also used for aesthetic purposes.
5) Plants are natural carbon dioxide filters as they use it up for photosynthesis. Hence they help in reducing the load of pollution.
6) Plants are the source of vitamins, useful for human beings.
7) Other uses include; prevention of soil erosion provides natural habitat for some wild animals, Useful in rain formation, adds a cooling effect onto the environment, produces useful products such as rubber and gum.
