DAY 1
(i) Morning Assembly – Yoga for all
(ii) Activities on Fitness and Nutrition for Students and Staff
Session (I)
As per the directions from the CBSE Board through revised version of circular No. Acad-68 Dt. 6/11/2019, Montfort School, Nagpur conducted “Yoga For All” in the morning assembly. Verious Asanas and Pranayamas were demonstrated with explanation and made students to do it.
Students were informed about the importance of yoga and it’s benefits in our day to day life.
Yoga expert Mr.Surendra conducted the seminar.
Session-(ii)
In the afternoon session the students and staff of the school were given information about fitness and nutrition with the help of the LED projector and lecture.
DAY 2
(i) Morning Assembly – Free hands exercise for all
(ii) Mental Fitness Activities (Ex. Debates, Symposium, Lectures by Sports Psychologists)
Under the heading suggested by the CBSE, ” free hand exercise for all”
Standing and sitting mass drill and other exercises conducted for the students in the school and students took part enthusiastically.
Session (ii)
In second session a lecture was held on
” Mental fitness”. The resource person explained how yoga and meditation could improve once mental health.
Memory retaintion test was conducted for them.
DAY 3
(i) Beginning of “Fitness Assessment” of Students through KHELO INDIA App.
(ii) Poster making Competition for all Students on theme “Fit Body – Fit Mind – Fit Environment”
Session (i)
After jogging callisthenics and basic warming up exercises in the morning, Students we’re informed about the ” Khelo India Physical Fitness assessment tests” and Khelo India Application. The various tests included under this program were demonstrated and explained. ‘Sit and reach test’ to measure flexibility, Height and Weight to calculate BMI, Push Ups and Partial curl ups for Strength,50 Mts Sprint for Speed and 600 M. run or walk to test cardiovascular strength,are the important tests to be conducted in the school.
The school began to conduct these tests with the help of the khelo India app.
(ii) Poster making competition on the theme” Fit Body- fit Mind- Fit Environment” was held for students in the afternoon session.
DAY 4
(i) Physical Activities for all Students including Dance, Aerobics, Yoga, Martial Arts, Rope-Skipping, Gardening etc.
(ii) Essay/Poem Writing Competition for all Students on theme “Fit India School”
On the fourth day of the Fit India School Week physical activities like Karate under Martial Arts for students of classes VI,VII & VIII, Speed Hop event of Rope Skipping for Classes IVth and Vth and Gardening activities for Classes IX conducted in the school. As a daily morning activity students and Staff of the school performed regular Asanas and Pranayamas.
Mr.Surendra Ugale HOD, Health and Physical Education of the school initiated them into meditation.
Session-(ii)
Essay writing competition was organized for all the classes in the afternoon session.
DAY 5
Session ( I)
Sports quiz was organized for classes VI to IX in the auditorium.Seven students each of four different houses of classes VI to IX saperataly as a team participated in the quiz.
The questions were displayed on the Large LED screen to ensure audio/video comfort.
Special rounds of questions were kept for audience active involvement. Blue house declared as the overall champion and Yellow house as the runner up champion of the sports quiz-2019.
The winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.
Traditional / Indiginious/Regional games from the partner state — Orissa.
The final day of the celebration of Fit India school week, the regional/traditional games like Luchakali ( Hide & Seek), Marbles and Lagori from the Maharashtra’s partner state Orissa were conducted for students. The brief history, structure, methods, rules and regulations of this games were introduced. After demonstration by the instructors these games were organized among students and staff too. Students played with enthusiasm.
On the occasion of the concluding ceremony of the fit India school week, Principal of Montfort School Brother Shine Alex congratulate the staff and students of the school for the successful completion of the week and asked them to realize the importance of fitness in their life.
