He had taught goldsmith when he was 6 years old. The poet clearly gives us examples from his poem that the village school master was an ideal teacher. There are various reasons like he was serious and strict but also cracked jokes to keep his class light hearted was knowledgeable and intellectual had intense love for learning. He was an accurate surveyor of land could predict weather patterns made estimations accurately .
