'Dust of Snow' is a very short poem of 8 lines only. ... It also uses symbolism in the poem, like snow symbolises joy and hemlock tree symbolises sorrow. Assonance is also used as a literary device in the poem. For example, 'way' rhymes with 'day', with 'change' and 'saved' in between.

LITERARY DEVICE

Alliteration

“And saved some part”

“Has given my heart”

Assonance - the prominence of a vowel sound throughout a line .

“Shook down on me” - ‘o’ sound is prominent.

Enjambment - when the same sentence continues to the next line without the use of any punctuation marks. It has been used throughout the poem.

Irony-The fact that the poisonous hemlock tree and a crow which indicates a harbinger of doom and fear are used in the poem as carriers of happiness in the life of the poet is ironical.
