point A and B are 70 KM apart on a highway A car starts from a another from B simultaneously if they travel in the same Direction they meet in 7 hours but if they travel towards Each Other they meet in 1 hour find the speed of the two car

let the speed of car A be = x km/hr

let the speed of car B be = y km/hr

time=distance/speed

therefore,

speed in same direction=(x-y)

speed in opposite direction=(x+y)

case 1(in opposite direction),

70/x+y=1,     .........1

case 2(in same direction)

70/x-y=7      ..........2

equating 1 and 2 we get ,

x=40 km/hr and y= 30 km/hr
