Point charge q is placed at a distance 2r from the centre o of a conducting charged sphere of radius r. Due to induced charges on the sphere , find the elecric potential at point p on the surface of sphere in volt if kq/r =18v.

since we know that charge inside the spherical is zero

and the potential at a point in the spherical sphere will be same as that of the surface

hence to find the potential at point p we must get the summation of the potential of the point p at inside to the potential of the point on the surface

let charge in the center of the shell is Q and on the surface be as q

thus by getting that we can calculate the value of potential on the point p

potential at point p = kQ/r + kq/2r = kq/2r

since Q is zero as we already know that charge inside the spherical shell in always zero thus

we can calculate that potential must be 9volt

since kq/r=18 volt  half of that is 9 volt
