Given :
magnification=m=-4[since it is real and magnified]
v= 60cm
object distance=u=?
magnification =m=V/u
u= 60/-4 =-15cm
Focal length=f=?
f=1/v - 1/u
=1/60 +1/15
=4+1/60
=5/60
f=60/5
=12cms
∴ Foal length of convex lens=12cm
Power=P=?
p=1/f (in m)
=100/f ( in cm)
=100/12
=+8.33 Diopters
∴ P=+8.3 D

A point object is placed in air in front of a spherical surface of a glass with the convex surface towards the object.If the distance between object and the surface is 25 cm and the radius of curvature of the surface is 5 cm , find the position of the image . ( refractive index of glass=1.5)
GIVEN
diagram.
air Π1 (______________
___.o_______.p(_____.c______.i___
(______________
Given.
u= po= -25cm
r = pc= 5cm
Π1 = 1
Π2 = 1.5
Π1/v - Π2/u = Π2-Π1/r
=1.5/v - 1/(-25) = 1.5-1/5
=1.5/v + 1/25 = 0.5/5 = 5/50 = 1/10
= 1.5/v = 1/10 - 1/25
= 5 - 2 / 50 = 3/50
= v/1.5 = 50/3
=V = 50 × 1.5/ 3
= 50/2
V= 25cm
