Most of the rivers in South India flow into the Bay of Bengal because the slope of the Deccan Plateau is towards east. The Western Ghats are higher and continuous range of mountains but eastern Ghats are low and broken and therefore, the rivers make their way through these broken mountain to the Bay of Bengal.
