The answer is 40 cm

GIVEN

Point P is at a distance of 41cm from the center ‘O’, of a circle having radius 9cm.

TO FIND

Length of the tangent.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let Us construct a line joining the radius of the circle and point P at point 'Q'.

Applying pythagorus theorem in ΔOPQ

OP² = QP² + OQ²

41² = QP² + 9²

1681 = QP² + 81

QP² = 1681-81 = 1600

QP = √1600 = 40

Hence, The answer is 40 cm
