Points A and B are 80 km apart on a highway one car starts from A and another from B at the same time if the cars travel in the same direction and different speed limit in 8 hours if the travel towards Each Other they meet in 1 hour 20 minutes what are the speeds of the two cars

let say speed of slower car = x km/hr

speed of faster car = y km/hr

distance covered by slower car in 8 hr = 8x km

distance covered by faster car in 8 hr = 8y km

8y = 8x + 80

dividing by 8 both sides

=> y = x + 10

=> y - x = 10

1hr 20 mins = 4/3 hrs

distance covered by both the cars in 4/3 hrs

= (4/3)(x+y)

(4/3)(x +y) = 80

=> x + y = 60

adding both equations

2y = 70

=> y = 35 km/hr

x = 25 km/Hr

25 & 35 km/hr are speed of cars
