• The coefficient of viscosity of water is calculated using Poiseuille's flow method as follows: A rubber tube connects a capillary tube with an extremely narrow bore to a burette held vertically.
• As indicated in the illustration, the capillary tube is kept horizontal.
• The pinch-stopper is removed and the burette is filled with water.
