Poisson's ratio, 0.4=Δl/lΔd/d⇒lΔl=0.4Δd/d-------------(1)

A=πr2=4πd2

Taking log both sides:

logA=log(4π)+2logd

Taking relative change both the sides: 

AΔA=2dΔddΔd=21AΔA=21×2%=1%------------------------------(1)

From equation (1) and (2), the percentage increase length can be given as: 

 lΔl=0.41%=2.5%
