Polar ice caps contain freshwater. When ice caps melt, freshwater formed moves
downwards and it mixes with the sea water. The sea water is saline. Will addition
of excess freshwater to the sea in this manner be able to increase the amount of
freshwater available for human consumption?

Answer:

No, because after the freshwater will get mixed with the sea water,it will also become salty and would not be fit for human consumption.

Actually it will happen the other way. The sea level will rise and will cause floods.
