The Indian constitution provides for the reservation of seats for the deprived sections of the society so that they can become economically strong and improve their standard of living. 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled castes, 7.5% for Scheduled tribes and 27% for Other backward castes in government jobs and colleges. This is the reservation policy in India.
