In a democracy, political expression of social division is very normal and can be healthy. It need not to be seen as a source of danger. It is because, this allows various marginal and disadvantaged social groups to present their problems to the government. They can also exert pressure on the governement to attend to these problems. Thus, expressions of various kinds of social divisions in politics often results in their cancelling one another out and thus reducing their intensity.
