1) Various interest groups in political parties pursue issues like women's upliftment, children's welfare, old age benefits etc.
2) The road map for the country's development is laid out by the respective parties according to their ideology.
3) Religious, ethnic, lingual and other group interests are espoused by different political parties based on the reasons for their formation.
4) Common interests like protection of democracy and the manner in which this is to be done is pursued by most major political parties.
5) Basic beliefs in socialism, communism and free enterprise determine the uniqueness of political parties' economic and social thinking and they are then either accepted or rejected by the voters.
