This statement can be justified by the following reasons:

(i) Political parties lessen a multitude of opinions into a few primary standpoints which they support. A democratic government establishes its policies on the viewpoints of the ruling party.

(ii) Political parties form public opinions by raising and highlighting myriad issues. They bring up various problems of the country and try to explain them in an easy way through magazines, booklets, pamphlets and meetings.

(iii) The role of opposition in governments is played by those political parties who lose the elections. They vocalise different views and censure the government for its failures and wrong policies and decisions. Opposition parties also mobilise opposition to the government.
