Pollen is a fine powder made up of microspores produced by male plants. It is also called flower sperm. Pollen carries the male gametes (reproductive cells) of seed plants. Seed plants include both conifers (plants whose seeds grow inside cones) and flowering plants.

Explanation:

Pollen grains are also called microspore and are male reproductive unit of flowering plants. Pollens are haploid cells that developed from the pollen mother cell by meiotic division. The pollen sacs are the site of pollen production. Pollens are usually spherical in shape. It has two coverings called the exine and the intine. Exine is very resistant and are well preserved as fossil due to the deposition of sporopollenin. The exine is somtimes sculptured and thick. A region on the exine is thin and pore like it is called the germ pore or germ furrow depending on the shape.Pollens aggregate together to form pollinium in some plant species like calotropis. Pollens are highly nutrient rich and are used to make food supplements. Pollens are very comon type of allergen .
