Pollination may occur without fertilization but fertilization will not take place without pollination. Give reason.Plz help with this Class XIII question.

Yes, it is true because, for fertilisation to occur, i.e, for the male gamete from the pollen to fuse with a female gamete inside the ovum, the pollen grain should first come and settle on the stigma, which later on erodes a pollen tube for the male gamete to travel. 
But in case of pollination, which is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of a flower to the stigma, it need not result in fertilisation always, because, sometimes, the stigma would have not developed to maturity and sometimes, the external conditions like drying of the flower due to overheat, will not allow the fertilisation of the flower to take place...
So, pollination might occur without fertilisation but for fertilisation to occur pollination must happen

If pollination does not occur then fertilization cannot take place because male gametes will not be available. For fertilization both male and female gametes must be present.
