Given:

Pooja receives ₹300 from her mother

Of which, she spends:

On a book → \frac{1}{8}

On a dress → \frac{3}{5}

To find:

How much money is left with Pooja?

Solution:

So,

The total fraction of money Pooja had spent = \frac{1}{8} + \frac{3}{5} = \frac{5 + 24}{40} = \frac{29}{40}

∴ The remaining fraction of money left with Pooja = 1 - \frac{29}{40} = \frac{40 - 29 }{40} = \frac{11}{40}

But we are given that Pooja was initially given ₹ 300 by her mother of which she had spent.

∴ Money left with Pooja is,

= \frac{11}{40}\times 300

= \frac{11}{2} \times 15

= \frac{165}{2}

= \bold{Rs. \:82.50}

Thus, money left with Pooja is Rs. 82.50.
