A country like India has many relief features. The relief features suitable from all aspect and almost every availibilty can be fulfilled there, The population accumulates over there like in Northern plains.
Much population is not seen in the desert of Rajasthan because of the unfulfillment of even basic needs.

Population Distribution depend on factors that cause it's uneqall distribution .Most of population prefer to live in moderate climate not harse,and where there is availability of water,the land should be fertile so they can grow crops to earn,And easy to construct houses and more facilities they found this in places on low altitude plain and where they found they settle.
.And also Terrain topography altitude is also main reason for uneqall distribution of population.
