Let the present population of the city be y.

Given,y = (The previous population)+(1/10)(The previous Population)+14000

Therefore,

y = 860000 + [(1/10) x 860000] + 14000
y = 860000 + 86000 + 14000
y = 860000 + 100000
y = 960000

Therefore the present population of the city is 9,60,000.

Let the present population in the city = x.

Given that population of a city was 860000.

Given that in next year it is increased by 14000 more than 1/10th of the previous population.

x - 860000/10 = 14000

x - 86000 = 14000

x = 14000 + 86000

x = 100000.

Therefore the present population in the city = 100000.
