Worked together to keep control of the United States in the hands of wealthy is the correct answer.

The Populists were actually the agrarian farmers and workers who protested against the policies of government and bankers and industrialists. In 1873, the agriculture prices were very low. The populists believed that management of currency was at fault and the government's currency policy was determined by Industrialists and eastern bankers. So the believed that bankers, landowners and political parties worked together to keep control of US in the hands of wealthy and exclude the poor and workers.

The Populists formed their own party (Populist Party) and later. began to contest elections.
