Answer:

In Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”, Portia expressed her immense joy at Bassanio’s success in choosing the casket.

Explanation:

In “The Merchant of Venice”, by Shakespeare, there is a scene where Bassanio had to choose one of the caskets to choose her Lady Love. Portia fears the outcome as he may end up choosing the wrong casket. She already fell in love with him and she tried in her own ways to keep him from possibly choosing the wrong casket. So, she hinted him through her servants. She wanted to play the music which has ominous lyrics.

The music played made Bassanio aware not to judge by external appearance. So, he rejected golden casket, silver casket and chosen the least attractive casket made of meagre lead. Finally, his choice was made. When he opened the casket, he finds in the picture of Portia. Portia was happy with his success and she presets him a ring as the symbol of their union. Bassanio promised her that he would wear the ring till his last breathe which left her immensely happy.
