Positive advertising is that kind of advertising which informs, educates and motivates the viewers. These advertisements work with a social responsibility. For instance, advertisements aimed at eradicating polio or AIDS. These constitute positive advertising.
Negative advertising includes such advertisements which is not truthful and which violates the dignity of the consumers. Giving false information about the ingredients of a product, making false claims and not making clear the effects of using the product deliberately, can be regarded as negative advertising. Even violating the dignity off the consumer by making false claims, mocking or exploiting the innocence of the consumer is regarded as negative advertising.

The positive impact is the creation of practically every form of modern commercial communications media we have today - newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet.
The negative impact is the tremendous waste of resources - not just the traditional "John Wanamaker 50% of my advertising is wasted" - but today's rampant Internet fraud from the digital () CPM, CPC, CPA (cookie stuffing), CPL, ad injection, domain spoofing, CMS, re-targeting, traffic/audience extension - to the good old traditional human "kickbacks/rebates."
With over a half a trillion dollars at stake globally every year
advertising/marketing is the single largest waste of resources on the planet.
