- Enhances the capability of a child’s cognitive learning: Children can now see the concepts visually and can understand more complex problems. This as increased the amount of data that a child can perceive.
- Increase in social networking: Teenagers are nowadays found lot on every social networking site. LinkedIn, Facebook, twitter etc are contributing to building networks for everyone. People with same interest can now connect on one platform and share their experience with one other. This has even helped teens in getting guidance for their career.
- Saves time: Social media has allowed us to save the majority of our time and utilize it somewhere productive. It enables us to communicate in an effective manner. Education can be received in the comfort of our home through distance learning or live streaming of classes offered. It is easier to stay in touch with friends and family through WhatsApp and Skype calling. The posting on social media updates everyone within seconds. No need to glance at the newspaper every morning to get updated about current happening.
Negative effects:
- Controls the thinking of people: Human brain is like a storage for big database. His behavior is altered according to these database he acquires from surrounding. This is the concept bein used by advertising companies nowadays. They try to put their data in your head so that when a particular product comes in your mind you just remember that company. It could be positive effect for companies but user is losing its analysing power.
- For spreading false news and violence: Recent incidents of protests from across the country and their influence on the students, disturbed the whole system.
