Mahatma Gandhi played a very significant role in the independence of India. He is referred to as the Father of the Nation. He came to India on the request of Gopal Krishna Gokhale from South Africa and got involved in active independence movements. He believed in Satyagraha and his principles inspired many Indians to fight for India's freedom. He started Dandi March as a protest against the salt laws. He initiated movements like Non cooperation and Civil Disobedience. He was the main figure of the Round Table Conferences.
