Republic day is very important day for each and every Indians because on this day only the constitution of India was finally came into the force on 26 January 1950. This act finally made India an independent country, from that day only 26 January is celebrated as Republic Day of India.

We all know that India got freedom from the British rule after long and very hard struggle on 15 August 1947 and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru given his famous speech 'Tryst with Destiny', announcing India's independence to his beloved countrymen but sadly freedom came without democracy and people do not have right to choose their own government. Till then our country does not have an official constitution and at that time our country was a constitutional monarchy under the rule of king George 6 even though we have got independence. After a long wait of two and half year on 26 January 1950 when finally our constitution came into the force making India as a biggest democracy in the world.

And to celebrate this very auspicious and important day Indian Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year.
