Dalton's Atomic theory provides the law of conservation of mass and law of definite proportion.
The postulates of this theory are :
- Atoms are the smallest indivisible particles.
- Atoms of an element are alike but only of the same element not for different elements.
- Atoms of elements take part in chemical reactions.
- Atoms are indestructible i.e can neither be created nor be destroyed.
- Atoms have characteristic mass but are structure - less.
