The main postulates of kinetic theory of matter are :

(i) Matter consists of small particles called molecules.

(ii) The molecules are always in random motion.

(iii) The molecules attract one another with a force which decreases as the distance between them increases.

(iv) Molecules of a given are all alike and differ from the molecules of other substance.

(v) The kinetic energy of the molecules depends upon the temperature. It increases with rise in temperature.
