Na + HCl —> NaCl + H₂

2Na + H₂SO₄ —>Na₂SO₄ + H₂

When sodium reacts with an acid, it gives out hydrogen gas. But the reaction is too dangerous to perform. Sodium is a highly reactive metal. So if the acid is concentrated, the reaction is too violent and can burst out into dangerous fire. So we are diluting the acid to make the reaction less vigorous.
