Given:

1 kg Potato = 4Rs

1 Kg Onion = 0.5Rs

1 Kg Garlic = 0.25 Rs

Total Weight = 10Kg

Total Cash = 10Rs

To Find:

How much of each vegetables should be bought.

Solution:

Let amount of Potato bought = P Kg

Let amount of Onion bought = N Kg

Let amount of Garlic bought = G Kg

  • P + N + G = 10
  • 4P + 0.5N + 0.25G = 10

Each terms in these two expressions must be a wholle number.

  • 0.5N should be whole number = > N is an even number.
  • N can be 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.

  • 4P < 10
  • P can be 0, 1, 2.
  • 0.25G should be a whole number :
  • G is a multiple of 4 : 0, 4, 8.

Let P = 1 ,

  • N + G = 9
  • 0.5N + 0.5G = 0.5x9 = 4.5
  • 0.5N + 0.25G = 6

Gives G as a negative number. Hence take P = 2

  • N + G = 8
  • 0.5N + 0.5G = 4
  • 0.5N + 0.25G = 2
  • 0.25G = 2
  • G = 8

Therefore N = 0.

Amount of Potato bought is 2Kg, amount of Oninon bought is 0Kg and amount of Garlic bought is 8Kg.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1 kg Potato = 4Rs

1 Kg Onion = 0.5Rs

1 Kg Garlic = 0.25 Rs

Total Weight = 10Kg

Total Cash = 10Rs

To Find:

How much of each vegetables should be bought.

Solution:

Let amount of Potato bought = P Kg

Let amount of Onion bought = N Kg

Let amount of Garlic bought = G Kg

P + N + G = 10

4P + 0.5N + 0.25G = 10

Each terms in these two expressions must be a wholle number.

0.5N should be whole number = > N is an even number.

N can be 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.

4P < 10

P can be 0, 1, 2.

0.25G should be a whole number :

G is a multiple of 4 : 0, 4, 8.

Let P = 1 ,

N + G = 9

0.5N + 0.5G = 0.5x9 = 4.5

0.5N + 0.25G = 6

Gives G as a negative number. Hence take P = 2

N + G = 8

0.5N + 0.5G = 4

0.5N + 0.25G = 2

0.25G = 2

G = 8

Therefore N = 0.

Amount of Potato bought is 2Kg, amount of Oninon bought is 0Kg and amount
