Baked clay articles are most generally regarded as "earthen" or  "ceramic" as in "a ceramic pot." Depending on the composition of the clay and the baking method employed, a number of terms may be used, for instance, earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. The area where such earthenware is created by a potter has known as pottery.
