Poverty indeed is a vicious circle. Especially for refugees it’s very hard to fight their daily challenges. They don’t have anything with them as they have to leave their homes and country in tense situations. In the chapter ‘Lost Spring’ by Anees Jung, the author has depicted the plight of Bangladeshi refugees settled in India. They are forced to live in slums and do rag picking for survival.
Similarly the condition of bangle makers of Firozabad is very bad. Bangle makers are trapped in a vicious circle of the shahukars , the middlemen, the policemen, the keepers of law, the bureaucrats and the politicians. Their evil nexus does not let them be free. Approximately 20,000 children work in the glass furnaces with high temperatures, in dingy cells without air and light, often losing the brightness of their eyes. Thus the bangle-makers of Firozabad live in a state of perpetual poverty and exploitation.
The most tragic thing is there is no one to help them.

The author says that these people are not given an opportunity to overcome their hardships and are often misused to a considerable extent by those in power to fulfill their greed and desires.
