The poverty has been declining from 45 percent in 1993-94 to 37.2 percent in 2004-05 and then to 21.9 percent in 2011-12. If this trend continues then there shall be no poverty in next 10-15 years. Also, many anti- poverty initiatives are taken to counter poverty.
