Power and functions of the President are:

*The Executive powers
He she makes all the appointments.

*Legislative power
No bill passed by the both the houses of the parliament, becomes a law without his/her consent.

*Financial Powers
The annual budget of the country is presented in the parliament in the name of the President.

*Judicial powers
All the judges of the Supreme Court and the High court including the Chief Justice are appointed by the President .

* Emergency powers
In case of extraordinary situations in the country or one or more states, the President has been entrusted with Certain emergency powers.


Functions of the Prime Minister are:

* To form Council of Ministers.

*To presides over meetings of the Council as well as Council of Ministers.

* To co-ordinate the workings of various departments.

*To advise the President to summon or prorogue the session or to dissolve the Lok Sabha before its terms expires.

*To advise the President about important appointments.

*To act as a link between the President and the Cabinet.
