PQ and PR are two equal chords of a circle with centre O. If
PQ = 5 cm and the radius of the circle is 6 cm, find the length of
the chord QR.

draw OM on QR because the line drawn from center to Chord bisect the chord and fall at an angle of 90°

radius = 6, let OM = x

MP=(6-x)

in triangle OQM , apply pythgoras therom

(QM)squre= 36-xsqure. 1

now in triangle PQM

QM= 26-(6-x)squre. 2

comparing RHS of eq 1 and eq 2

x = 47/12 = 3.92cm

put the value in equation 1

QR=2×QM = 2×4.54= 9.08 cm
