area of square = side × side
= 28 × 28
=784 m^2
radius of semicircular grass = 28/2
= 14 m
area of semicircular grass =
\pi \: {r}^{2} \div 2 \\ = \frac{22}{7} \times 14 \times 14 \div 2 \\ = 308 {m}^{2} \\ area \: of \: two \: semi \: circle \: = 308 \times 2 \\ = 616 {m}^{2} \\ area \: of \: remaining \: portion \: = 784 - 616 \\ = 168 {m}^{2} \\

Answer:

Area of remaining portion is 168 meter square.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : PQRS is a square land of side 28m. 2 semicircular grass covered portions are to be made on 2 of its opposite sides.

To find : How much area will be left uncovered?

Solution :

Length of side of square=28 m

Area of the square is

A=s\times s

A=28\times 28

A=784m^2

Since length of side of square is 28 m became the diameter of the semicircles

Diameter of the semicircles=28 m

Radius of the semicircles=14 m

Area of a semicircle is

A=\frac{1}{2}\pi r^2

Area of both the semicircles is

A=2\times \frac{1}{2}\pi r^2

A=\pi r^2

A=\frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14

A=616m^2

Remaining area is 784-616=168 meter square.

Therefore, Area of remaining portion is 168 meter square.
