Practice Problems 3:
1. Astone thrown vertically upward rises to a height of 29.34 m on the surface of the Moon
If the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Moon is 1.63 m/s?. Calculate:
(1) the initial velocity of the stone, (ii) the time taken to gain the maximum height.
(b) 9.78 m/s, (ii) 6 s)

Answer:
Hi , We can solve this as ;-
maximum height = U^2/2g ( g = gravity on moon for this question )
29.34= U^2/2*1.63
U= √(29.63*3.26) = 9.78 m/s
time = 2 u/ g = 2 *9.78 / 1.63= 6 apprx
