Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

SA = 11 m^2

◆ Explaination -

# Given -

b = 1 m

l = 2 m

h = 1.5 m

# Solution -

As the bottom is not painted, surface area to be painted is calculated by -

SA = 2 (lb + bh + lh) - lb

SA = 2 (2×1 + 1×1.5 × 2×1.5) - 2×1

SA = 2 (2 + 1.5 + 3) - 2

SA = 11 m^2

Therefore, Prameela will paint 11 m^2 surface area.

Hope that's useful...

Area She Painted = Total Surface Area of Cabinet - Bottom Area

⇒ Area She Painted = 2(lb + bh + hl) - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted = 2[(2 m × 1 m) + (1 m × 1.5 m) + (1.5 m × 2 m)] - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted = 2[(2 m²) + (1.5 m²) + (3 m²)] - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted = 2[2 m² + 1.5 m² + 3 m²] - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted = 2[6.5 m²] - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted =13 m² - (Length × Breadth)

⇒ Area She Painted =13 m² - (2 m × 1 m)

⇒ Area She Painted =13 m² - 2 m²

⇒ Area She Painted = 11 m²
