22

share = period × investment

3 : 5 = (80000×12) : (72000×k)

3/5 = 960000/72000k

k = 960/72*5/3

k = 22 months

The correct answer is 8 months.

Given: Pramod 's and Jayesh's share in the business in the ratio = 3 :5 .

Amount invested by Jayesh = Rs 80000.

Time period of Jayesh = 12 months.

Amount invested by Pramod =  Rs 72000.

To Find: Time period of Pramod.

Solution:

As we know, the share ratio will be equal to ratio of (amount x time) of both.

\frac{Pramod}{Jayesh}=\frac{3}{5}

\frac{Pramod's amount*time}{Jayesh's amount*time}=\frac{3}{5}

Let the time period of Pramod be T.

\frac{T*72000}{12*80000}=\frac{3}{5}

\frac{T*72}{12*80}=\frac{3}{5}

\frac{T*9}{12*10}=\frac{3}{5}

\frac{T*3}{4*10}=\frac{3}{5}

T = 8

Hence, the time period for which Pramod invested is 8 months.
