Let the number of ₹ 5 coins be x.

So, ₹ 2 coins = 3x.

Total amount = ₹ 77

According to condition,

5x + 2(3x) = 77

or, 5x + 6x = 77

or, 11x = 77

or, x = 77/11

or, x = 7

So, the number of ₹ 5 coins = x = 7

and that of ₹ 2 coins = 3x = 3×7 = 21.

Hence, he has 21 two rupee coins and 7 five rupee coins.
