pravali house has a water tank in the shape of a cylinder on the roof .this is filled by pumping water from a sump(an underground tank) which is in the shape of a cuboid .The sump has dimensions 1.57m×1.44m×9.5cm.The wqter tank has radius 60cm and a height of 95 cm .Find the height of the water left in the sump after the water tank has been completely filled with water from the sump which had been full of water .compare the capacity of the tank with that of the sump.(use π=3.14)

there is some mistake in data ,

capacity of the tank : Capacity  of the sump :: 1 :2 and height = 47.5 cm after filling tank

Step-by-step explanation:

The sump has dimensions 1.57m×1.44m×9.5cm.

1.57 m = 157 m  1.44 m = 144 cm

Capacity of sump  = 157 * 144 * 9.5  cm³

The water tank has radius 60cm and a height of 95 cm

Capacity of Water Tank = πr²h

= 3.14 * 60² * 95

= 3.14 * 60 * 60 * 95

capacity of the tank /Capacity  of the sump  = 3.14 * 60 * 60 * 95 / (157 * 144 * 9.5)

= 0.02 * 5 * 5 * 10

= 5/1

=>  capacity of the tank > Capacity  of the sump

This means there is some mistake in data

if height of sump is taken 95 cm instead of 9.5 cm

then  capacity of the tank /Capacity  of the sump  = 5/10 = 1/2

capacity of the tank : Capacity  of the sump :: 1 :2

After filling tank sump fill be half filled Hence height of sump would be 95/2 = 47.5 cm
