precaution for the experiment to show that roots absorb water. pls don't spam and post irrelevant stuff​

Aim: To show that roots absorb water.

Procedure:

Test tube A: Water + young leaf with intact root. Immerse the root in water. Cover the water with oil. Mark the water level.

Test tube B: Water covered with a layer of oil.

Observation:

Test tube A: Level of water is decreased.

Test tube B: No change in the water level.

Inference: Water is absorbed by roots.

A medium sized young balsam plant is placed in a beaker containing eosin solution.

After a period of time, transverse section of its roots, stem and leaves were observed under microscope.

It was found that, the xylem vessels appear distinct (red) from the rest, as they are stained by the dye..
