Preetha was observing live cells of onion in lab and she observed cell wall, cytoplasm and nucleus clearly. Suddenly her friend spilled a few drops of salt water on slide. After sometime. Preetha observed the slide and found some changes. a) Write the change observed in live cells of onion after it is exposed to salt water. b) Explain the reason for the changes observed in the cell .

Hey! I'm not 100% sure but I think this should be the answer.....
A) The cell would shrink and the contents of the cell would move away from the cell wall.
B) It shrinked because of exosmosis as the water concentration in the surrounding medium(salt water) was lower as compared to the onion cell. So the water exited from the cell and thus it shrinked.
